Can The Smell From Used Sanitary Pads Make Person Sick?
My 13 year old daughter has been hiding her used sanitary pads in a plastic bag in her closet. She was to embarrassed to tell us she was menstrating. The odor is quite bad now, even after the bag was removed. Can this make my family sick & can I clean this up on my own using antibacterial cleaning products?
I can sympathise with your daughter as it is an embarrassing time for her. A good way to help her is to be open and talk to her about female issues and sexuality.
The odour should not make the family sick. It would be wise to use gloves to clean our the closet and give it a thorough cleansing and airing. For future, do provide appropriate facilities for your daughter to dispose of sanitary towels and re-assure her that this is normal for all women.
