Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had two cervical spine injections of cortisone six weeks and 10 weeks ago respectively. I woke up this morning and weighed myself only to find I have gained 8 lbs and increased 5.5 inches overall...mostly in my hip area. How can I Ioose this weight effectively with minimal exercise and diet? And can I expect more weight gain (I will not get another injections) and how long will it take me to loose it. Very frustrated.
hello mam. i read your query and t he actual thing happening with steroids is increasing hunger so you will increase food intake which you cant identify in your routine. the other reason is problem itself reducing the patients to move around and do their work ... so which increases the weight.you said that you gained the weight of 8lbs and mostly in hip area. the effect of steriod should be gone now so dont bother about more weight gain. to decrease it you can do aerobic exercise and its a little bit easy to loose weight in hip area rather than gain at abdomen. you can join gim and control your diet restricting the calorie intake to 2000 calories per day (should be corrected according to your wgt and ht) . you can see some sites over internet for that like http://www.calorieking.com/foods/ ....you can find the calories of your local food . please dont start some medications to decrease wgt . its almost treatable by exercise like swimming walking etc hope you have a good and healthy life. regards DR.TEJASWI
