Can A Person Travel In Bus For More Than Seven Hours After A Hernia Surgery?

My daughter is having hernia surgery in a few weeks. She is planning an all day bus trip ( 7 hours) then touring NYC then the return trip the same day. This trip is scheduled for a week later. I m concerned it may be too much for her so soon. I m concerned about a possible blood clot or her stitches pulling or tearing. Am I right yo be concerned? She is 36.

Hello,

The schedule may be too hectic for her. She should wait at least for ten days after surgery to prevent any complication. If stitch healed completely after seven days than she can be allowed to do trip. You can post photo of stitch after seven days or can consult nearby doctor for examination of stitch.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
