Can HPV Be Contracted Through Use Of Infected Razor?

My roommate recently told me that she has HPV. Prior to this, I had used her razor to shave off a few missed hairs on the base of my penis. I have a lump on the upper shaft of my penis now. Is it possible that I contracted HPV from using my roommate s razor?

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Transmission by inanimate objects is possible but not very common.
The most common route of genital Hpv infection is through sexual contact with an infected partner wherein the infection is passed on by direct contact with the infected surface.
Nevertheless, since you have noticed a lump which you think that it is possibly a wart I suggest that you visit a specialist in your region for a confirmatory diagnosis.
A genital wart is fairly easy to diagnose on visual inspection and appear as asymptomatic, skin colored or pink, raised, cauliflower like papules/growths.

Regards
