Can HIV Or Hepatitis B Be Contracted By Getting Pricked By Used Needle?

hi, i just found out tonight that my 9 year old son got picked by a used needle when playing 2 days ago i have called a few nurses they have told me to wait untill tomorrow to take him to his doctor im really worried and was wondering what are the chances of him catching hiv or heb b or c i know nothing about this kind of thing thank you.

chances of catching an hiv/hep B or c are present only when the needle was used for a person infected with the above mentioned diseases.
If your child was vaccinated with hepatitis B then there is no chance your son can catch hepatitis B.
regarding HIV, prick with a needle used for an Hiv infected person only will cause an infection and not in 100% cases.
to know immediately the status of HIV you can undergo an RT-PCR(reverse trancriptase polymerase chain reaction) which costs around 3 to 4 thousands and it is done in quite reputed labs.
