Are There Any Medication That Cause UTI?

I have just been diagnosed with a UTI. It is not my first. I will be able to pick up my prescription in the A.M. My Question: My husband said he read or heard recently that a side effect of some medications list urinary tract infections, Is this true?

Hello,

Yes, you are right. Some studies says that some decongestant or anti allergic medications can cause UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). But this is not yet confirmed. But as a physician I feel, until and unless it is proven, ignore it.

There are always some provocative factors for UTI. So, you consult with urologist for second opinion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
