Accidentally Splashed On Face With Bed Pan Washer. Matter Of Concern?

i am a nursing student and last week at clinicals i was in the dirty room about to dispose of urine. I wasn t sure whether to use this huge toilet looking thing (which i now know is the hopper) or a urinal type receptical on the wall with a door (which i now know is an old bed pan washer). I opened the bed pan washer and wondered if it worked (no sign anywhere) so i flushed it (but had not poured anything in it). Little did I know that water came spraying out of this washer directly into my face! My clinical instructor didn t think much about it and everyone helped me clean off but I was panicking! I am afraid of what might have splashed in my eyes, nose,& mouth. I did hv my glasses on but i KNOW that it got around those! the CNA s on the floor say that this bedpan washer is old and it never gets used. I feel like an incident report should have been filed but was not. My question is, should i have some testing done? I did have a small cut on my left thumb that did have a bandaid on it. The water had to come up past whatever has previously been poured down that thing. It was clean water but again, God only knows what has previously been in that thing. I am a mom of small children and want to know if I should be worried. Thanks so much

hi,
Thank you for sending query in healthcare magic forum.
as you worried about your incidence, this one is no any major issue so don't be worry in future but and getting relaxed. if all are said that the bed pan is verrry old then why you worry. is you want to take lab test here no need to do any test. they all things are needed if the bed pan will contaminated with stool, urine or blood.
so don't worry and do your job.
