Question: i believed phenergan was non-addictive and began "abusing" because of side effects tho unsure how non-addictive can be abuse and as thought it took 2 hours to work/took for 6 weeks or so...went cold turkey 6 days ago and have suffered quite some distress. I put the rest down the toilet so i cant taper now anyway ... i have had some sleep most days at odd hours....( bloody bed broke too!) ... hopefully the worst is over but sometimes concentration has been v v hard.Had hoped that rest would just see these symptoms alleviate ...

Brief Answer:
Promethazine gets out in 2 to 4 days. Worst is over.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

Normally promethazine doesn't have addictive effects. You possibly have been used to its side effects and now you feel bad because you don't have those effects.
Promethazine needs about 2 to 4 days to get out of your system. I don't think you need to take anymore promethazine. You have to get used to the absence of it slowly.
I believe the worst is over.

Hope I have answered the question.

Brief Answer:
No risk of addiction.

Detailed Answer:
It becomes unsafe if you mix it with other drugs, opioids, and it becomes addictive.
You are safe and there is no risk of withdrawal symptoms. You will feel better as time passes.
It is good thing that you can rest next week and take life slowly.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.

Brief Answer:
You need time to relax and sleep.

Detailed Answer:
The fact that you had problems last night but not you had better sleep the night before doesn't mean that it can come as a result of stopping promethazine.
Take time to rest and relax.
