Yeaterday I Went To A Genuine Massage Place To Get

Posted on Thu, 23 Jun 2022
Question: Yeaterday I went to a genuine massage place to get a massage. The lady masseuse completed the massage and gave me a handjob. She used the massage oil during handjob. She was fully clothed, we did not engage in kissing or foreplay or any other sexual activity. 1. Is there any possibility of transmission of any STD and HIV with this interaction. 2. Hypothetically if the masseuse had a fresh bleed and assuming she is a carrier, the blood mix with the oil being massaged over the tip of the penis, does this practically and theoretically pose any challenge. Is PEP warranted in this case

Brief Answer:
HIV transmission is quite unlikely through the activities mentioned by you.

Detailed Answer:
HI,
welcome to ASK A DOCTOR through HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
HIV is a highly fragile organism. It cannot be viable outside the body fluids not more than few seconds.
It cannot thrive in any type oil not even for seconds.
Hand job is the safest sexual activity.
If we consider that the massage girl is HIV posititive (quite unlikely) and even if she had an injury over her fingers, it is not possible for the transmission of HIV through this means.
So not to worry at all. You don't need any PEP for you.

Brief Answer:
Your risk for HIV/STI is almost 'nil'

Detailed Answer:
HI,
welcome back.
Thank God ... Almost all the STI organisms are highly fragile. They cannot withstand either to the outside atmosphere like atmopheric Oxygen, dryness, temperature, soap and water and with weak antiseptics) or some virus cannot thrive outside the body fluids not more than few seconds.
Though theoretical possibilities of an open wound in the fingers comes in cotact with secretions like semen, vaginal fluid and blood can transmit the infection, the transmission of STI/HIV, in that article itself, it is mentioned "less likely" or low risk. I will not call it as low risk rather a negligible risk, (https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/risk/estimates/riskbehaviors.html)
This negligible possibilities can occur rarely in temperate climates and not in tropical climates.
As you rightly mentioned, I am as a specialist in genital disease for more than 40 years (sine my PG time onwards) I am yet to see a STI condition or HIV had been transmitted through Hand job.
At the sametime, the people at risk like parlor girls and sex workers are also aware of their risks and have periodical check ups and take adequate precautionary measures. HIV positive individuals who are on regular treatment will become with undetectable viral load and are no longer transmit the infection to anyone.
So I am confident enough that you don't need PEP .
