Question: ONE WEEK AGO, I STARTED TRULICITY, 0.75 MG. I THEN DISCONTINUED LEVEMIR 45UNITS AT BEDTIME. THOSE FASTING SUGARS WERE BETWEEN 70 AND 100.
MY FASTING SUGARS HAVE BEEN AROUND 160 SINCE THEN. SHOULD I EXPECT MY FASTING SUGARS TO GRADUALLY COME DOWN OR IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRULICITY? THE SYRINGE SHOWED THAT A DOSE WAS ADMINISTERED IN THE ABDOMEN

Brief Answer:
About diabetes treatment

Detailed Answer:
Heĺlo and thank you for asking!
I can understand your concern.
Trulicity has a different mechanism of action compared to insulin.
Usually, the starting dose is 0.75 and the maintenance dose is 1.5, but in ages over 75 there are not enough data if 1.5 can be used.
One week is enough to see it's effect.
If the blood sugar persists high you need to see your physician in order to adjust the therapy.
He can add another tablet (metformin) or probably add a basal insulin except trulicity.
Hope the information will help.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
