Why Is My Bruising Getting Worse Even Three Weeks After Taking Juvederm Plus?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Feb 2024
Question: Ok so it’s been over three weeks since I had juvederm plus and the discoloration is getting worst bit better. I am super freaked out. Is this from the filler? The bruising should be getting better not worst. Is this fixable? I have an appointment with a doctor Tuesday but looking for reassurance. Super anxious.

Brief Answer:
Regarding filler

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you.
I am Dr kakkar (Dermatologist and Venereologist). I have noted your concern and I have viewed the images.
I can't really appreciate the bruising. Perhaps the bluish discoloration is just "Tyndall effect" due to superficial infection of filler. It should resolve gradually as the filler resorbs with time and there is nothing to worry.

It is interesting because in person it looks more greyish color.

Thank you so much for your reply. I’m am going to get it re-evaluated on Tuesday. In your profession experience if it is Tyndall effect is it better to get an injection to dissolve it or better to just give it time to resolve on its own?

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Though the tyndall effect should lessen by itself as the filler disperses with time, however, injection hyaluronidase may be given for faster resolution. Hyaluronidase helps dissolve the filler itself anf with it the tyndall effect.

So nurse injector at plastic surgery office said it didn’t look like Tyndall effect said maybe it’s internal bruising? It appears it hasn’t gotten any better since initial injection. Should I make an pointment with dermstologist? Including pictures of initial injection and today and one form today 4 weeks later. Not much improvement.

And thank you for your patience with me Dr. Kakker. I’m scared I damaged my skin with these stupid injections.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
It could be a deeper bruise but that is expected to resolve in 2-3 weeks. I suggest you to take a oral Vitamin C supplement once a day for 2-4 weeks.
