Posted on Mon, 16 Nov 2015
Question: MY daughter tore her ACL twice playing soccer. She is 16 years old. She has had it surgically repaired both times. We do not want her to play soccer again. What sports can she pursue that have lower risk of ACL tears. Do not say swimming. She hates to swim. thank you

Brief Answer:
She can play tennis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

In your doughter's case, sports that she can practice include those associated with minimal strains of the knee.

Those sports include ping pong, tennis, hockey.

It is important to give at least 6 to 12 months time the knee and ACL to rehabilitate with appropriate exercises, before starting any sports.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
