What Is Likely The Cause Of Diffusely Thickened Bladder Wall And Scattered Echogenic Foci?

Posted on Mon, 18 Jul 2022
Question: what is likely cause of diffusely thickened bladder wall and scattered echogenic foci mean? Some intermittent night time incontinence. Same ultrasound showed enlarged spleen. 7/3/18. Had one in April, 2018, same thing but sedimentary layer, no enlarged spleen. Low WBC. Flushing face. Constant headaches. Insomnia. Breathing problems. Older teen boy. Why hasn't urologist done cystoscopy? Had MONO/EBV over a year ago, high viral load. Dx POTS. low blood pressure, taking fludrocortisone, also. Lost a lot of weight. Slightly high RBC, also. LUPUS? ANA negative. Cancer? Next steps?

Brief Answer:
Probably infection, cysoscopy is necessary.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I'm afraid that you asked your question at the wrong specialty, you should ask a Urologist for this type of question.

Anyway, if this helps since there is a history of infection in the past, and enlargement of the spleen, those ultrasound findings are consistent with cystitis, (cystitis cystica, eosinophilic cystitis, emphysematous cystitis).

Often cystitis may mimic a bladder tumor and ultrasound alone is not sufficient to achieve a correct diagnosis.

Cystoscopy with biopsy is necessary for a correct diagnosis.

Discuss with your Doctor about these issues.

Hope this helps.
Take care.

Brief Answer:
A biopsy is necessary.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Unfortunately, you seem to have selected Neurology instead of Urology hence your question was listed under the Neurology section and was not visible/accessible for Urologists. You can also post another query mentioning the desired Specialist so that it can be answered again as per your request (I'd request you to contact the customer care in this regard).

If this helps, please discuss with the treating Doctor about getting a cystoscopy and biopsy done in order to achieve a correct diagnosis and treatment.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
