Brief Answer:
Not harmful

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM.

This is very simple diagnostic test and not harmful at all. All you have to do is to drink some amount of liquid which may have some bad taste, but nothing serious. This is so called contrast. After this, you will have X-rays imaging.

You just need to stand in front of X-ray camera and you won't feel anything, this is like photo session. It may be required to have few X-rays images during several hours so that this liquid contrast can reach distant parts of bowel. Contrast is not harmful in controlled doses and under medical supervision, and Xray shots provide negligible amount of irradiation.

Wish you good health.
Regards
