Brief Answer:
Due to hematoma formation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The retroplacental clot is due to mild bleeding and detachment of placenta. Inj. Proluton will help in proper placental attachment.
The pain at the site of injection is likely to be due to a hematoma formation. If there is a visible swelling in the area with a local raised temperature then an infection needs to be ruled out after a proper examination.
If the pain is mild, not gradually increasing and no swelling is there then doing a hot compress in the area will help in reducing the lump and pain in a week. You can also take mild pain killers in case the pain is persistent.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
RPC should not increase.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The retroplacental clot is serious if it is gradually increasing in size. It can cause an abortion. You need to take complete bed rest and get a repeat scan done after 2 weeks to see the progress.
The swelling will gradually subside. Continue hot fomentation thrice a day for at least a week.
Hope my answer is helpful.
