What Does A Swelling On Shin After An Injury Indicate?

Question: I'm a pitcher and was hit in the shin with a line drive atleast 4 months ago. Originally the area swelled and then went away within a matter of 30 to 45 minutes. My worry is that the area is still very hard yet soft and when you apply pressure to the area it will dent very noticablly. Should I be concerned?

Thanks for posting
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.If you are physically fit to play sport then nothing to worry about. Is the swelling localized or diffuse and painful?
Most likely it is clotted blood under process of resorption.
You may do hot water fomentation and apply thrombophob cream to the area,drugs like trypsin/bromealin help in reduction of swelling.
If possible send the picture of swelling.

The area is no longer swollen so to speak but very rigid to the touch. When I wear socks with an elastic top it dents and stays that way for hours though.
