Brief Answer:
It could be late onset depression

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Although it is never possible to diagnose the problem on the basis of limited information available but the feeling anxious and depressed could be manifestation of late onset depression. The feeling of depression is never normal and person feels terrible in form of motivation, energy, social participation, work performance among others.

The depression is not something which is alien to us. As per the available data almost 10% of men experience depression and it is more common with advancement of age.

Since it already started we need to start treatment as soon as possible. This is important because untreated depression increases morbidity (suffering) and increases time to remission once the treatment is started.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
