What Do Palpitations At Base Of Neck While Lying Down Suggest?
Question: Hello Doctor thank you
I am experiencing palpitations at the base of my neck. The only generally noticeable only when I lay down. In addition when I lay on my left side I can feel what I think is a ship in my heart beat.
I am not faint or other wise in pain. I do not feel short of breath.
In my job I sit most of the day at the computer and I do not get enough exercise. However, I do eat rather well and avoid generally foods that increase risks. I am 5'6" tall and I weight about 185 lbs. Slightly over weight but I am sill well proportioned for my age.
Do you have an observation for me about my condition?
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Brief Answer:
Can be caused by several conditions
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,
Such symptoms can be caused by several conditions, such as
-aortic regurgitation
-elevated venous pressure
-different types of arrhythmias
In some healthy adults it can be observed without any pathology, also sometimes such symptoms develop if people have stressed life or are overtired.
Your doctor ordered correct examinations, results will reveal the exact cause, if there is nothing abnormal in results, then there is nothing to be concerned.
Hope I could help you
