What Do My X-ray Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Feb 2016
Question: I am attaching the X Ray of my 4 year old kid who fell and broke his bone on 30-Dec-2015 and this X Ray was taken on 07-Jan-2016 on a follow up visit. Doctor told that second bone is aligned to an agreeable angulation (not completely) and it will get remodelled automatically. I have two queries:

1> Is what ever told to us regarding the second bone is correct? We are a bit worried whenever we look at the Xray

2>Will my child be able to use his left hand freely after the cast is removed after 6 weeks or we need to wait till the bone is remodelled completely

Please advise

Brief Answer:
The bone will heal well.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
1. The alignment of the second bone is correct. It will gradually remodel on its own once it is healed. There is no need to worry. After remodelling in 6-8 months, the bone will look absolutely normal on X-ray.
2. There will be no problem in normal working of the hand. He can start using the arm after the cast is removed. The bone remodelling does not affect the working and is a painless process.
I hope this answers your query.
