Question: diarrhea for over a week. Cant figure out anything different I ate or unusual to me. very watery comes out like a fucking water hose the is small squirts, been golden in color and black. has been uncontrollable in sleep. stomach gurgles all the time, I feel it hear it and I can feel having to go very soon after. I almost always have had to go to bathroom after eating and mostly runny.... Not all is runny some normal but those are far and few between. This bout is particularly longer than usual, I just finished antibiotics from kidney infection March 16 last day of medication.

I also feel nauseas but not throwing up. This is not the first as mentioned. On and off most of my life. getting worse. Never discussed with doctor just assumed diet issues. but I eat pretty healthy when I feel hungry. Appetite loss in past few years. weight loss last year about 15 lbs with out trying, thought is could be stress. but bathroom issue still going on.

Brief Answer:
Chronic inflammation in intestines due to infection.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

As per the description given by you, most likely you are suffering from severe and recurrent bacterial or protozoal gastroenteritis. Viral enteritis is usually self limiting and limits itself in 5 days.

As stools are watery, discolored and foul smelling they are all indicator of severe infection in intestines.

Most of the time, antibiotics taken orally are not very effective in such cases as there is gross inflammation of the intestines. I would recommend you to get an initial three days therapy of IV fluids with Metronidazole IV and Ofloxacin IV.

Get an ultrasound of the abdomen and stool test done.

However, in case you want oral therapy you can take Metrogyl thrice daily with Ofloxacin twice daily (prescription meds).

A probiotic should be started. Take only yogurt, curd, coconut water and any drink rich in electrolyte.

To control nausea Zofran can be taken SOS. Weight loss is due to dehydration. Keep a watch on your pulse rate and BP.

Hope I have answered your query.

Thank you.
