What Causes Swellings In The Back Of Throat?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Jun 2014
Question: Hello. I just ate dinner this evening, and I noticed afterwards that there was a small uncomfortable something in the back of my throat, on the right side. I looked in the mirror, and saw what looked to be a zit in the back of my throat. Well, what's a guy to do? Of course, I popped it. It wasn't tough to do, as it basically disappeared after it popped. However, I still can feel that area in my throat. It's... uncomfortable. What should I do? And did I make the wrong choice?

Brief Answer:
please gargle with warm salt water

Detailed Answer:
Hello

You did not do anything wrong and i dont think you have to worry

The lining of the throat has a lot off small glands , which can get blocked due to food or other particles giving rise to the small swellings.

These small swellings normally disappear by themselves and need no treatment , so you don't have to worry about them

The uncomfortable feeling that you are experiencing is due to the raw area left exposed after bursting the swelling and will disappear once the area heals.

Please gargle with warm salt water 2-3 times a day , it will reduce the swelling and help in healing.

Thanks
