What Causes Swelling In Thigh After Hip Dislocation?

default
Posted on Wed, 30 Dec 2015
Question: Is swelling in the thigh after a hip dislocation normal and how do we treat it. Would it be good to put compression on the thigh?

Just not sure if my question went through...it still says asked by me 0 minutes ago and its been like 10 minutes. Sorry for my impatience.

Brief Answer:
Not normal needs a rework

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I am sorry about your mother's problem. However your description does not seem normal and common. It needs a revisit and reexamination by the Orthopedic surgeon to determine the exact nature of the swelling. It could be fresh bleeding from the dislocated joint of the hip.

In such a case if the bleed is mod to severe it needs to be drained. If the bleed is mild then compression and watchful waiting would be considered.
There is a chance of fresh trauma and could lead to swelling.
So all in all this is not common and cannot be left without diagnosis.

Please see your doctor for examination.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
