Posted on Mon, 13 Feb 2017
Question: My name is XXXXXXX Welsh and my significant other is XXXXXXX XXXXXXX DOB 04/30/1973. He is a 43-year-old Native XXXXXXX XXXXXXX and is 95% bedridden due to orthostatic. When he sits up his blood pressure drops drastically. When he stands up, his blood pressure drops dangerously low and he becomes extremely dizzy. From July 2016-October 2016, he was hospitalized at Banner University in XXXXXXX AZ. Out of 5 GI specialists and 2 Cardiologists, no one has been able to diagnose him. I am hoping and praying there is a doctor who will listen and take interest in this case. Thank you. I have XXXXXXX doctor reports from Banner University in XXXXXXX AZ on 2 cd's. I can try to upload the info into a PDF file and send it, if needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

Your friend seems to have postural orthostatic tachycardia (and hypotensive) syndrome.

Before giving you my opinion I would like to have a copy of all his medical records. Can you please upload the requested data?

I'm waiting for the requested data.

Hello Dr. Shehu,

Thank you for replying. I have tried to save the data and information that are on the discs to my documents but I am unable to save it. I cannot find a program that will allow me to save the disc that contain reports, CT scans, X-rays, etc. The only option I have is, I could make a copy of the discs and send them by overnight mail to you.

You mentioned he may have postural orthostatic tachycardia (and hypotensive) syndrome. I googled POTS and one of the medications that is use for treatment of POTS is Medodrine. XXXXXXX is currently taking Medodrine. As far as exercise and therapy goes, he cannot sit up long enough to get the physical therapy that he needs. He can stand but when he does, his blood pressure drops dangerously low and the physical therapist will not continue with therapy. Please keep in mind, he cannot stand very long without his legs giving way and falling. He says his legs feel like jello.

Please let me know if you would like me to send the discs by overnight mail and where would you like them sent to?

Thank-you,
XXXXXXX Welsh
