What Causes Radial Line To Stop Functioning?

Dear doctor
Is it normal for the radial line to stop functioning . And what are the reasons ? They said after 7 days the radial line stops to work ( arterial line ). Isnt this line to monitor the patient blood pressure important in the cicu ?

Well looking into your query I will like to tell you that yes your doctor has rightly said that arterial line stops fuctioning by 7 days and needs to be changed . It is because of the bodys physiological response which clots the blood at its opening otherwise also there is a risk for infection so it should be changed or pulled out .

BP can be monitored by cuff also , it is generally required in sick patients , once the patient is stable it can be stopped , that decision will be taken by your treating doctorby looking at the patients condition.
