What Causes Pain At The Base Of The Calf?

default
Posted on Thu, 20 Apr 2017
Question: When I run, I am getting a pain at the base of my right calf, near the top of my ankle. Feels like a strain. Is there some way to strengthen it to prevent that? I have some events coming up and don't want to stop training.

Brief Answer:
Physical therapy will help.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

It is good to know that you have realized the strain. This can be relieved through proper exercise. A physical therapist would be able to demonstrate the right exercises for you. Stretch exercises would provide relief and would help in strengthening the muscles. You can also benefit from hot compress. In any case you need not stop training.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
