Question: I was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease about 8 months ago... treated naturally by an doctor of functional medicine. I felt numbness in my left hand last night. I also had what I thought was sleep paralysis a few nights ago, but experienced quite a bit of pain afterwards. I'm wondering if these are possible mild seizures and should I see a Neurologist?

Brief Answer:
Mitochondrial disease has potential for seizures

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The symptoms that you explained to me are not typical of seizures. It may be or may not be related to the mitochondrial disease. However yes mitochondrial disease has the potential to cause seizures.

I suggest an examination by local physician first before referral to Neurologist. I guess local physician appointment is faster and cheaper than specialist Neurologist.

Hope this helps.
