Question: Hi

My 4 year old just had a fall and hit the back of his head. There is a swell and also he had nosebleed after that. The bleeding did not last more than 3mins. He gets nosebleed easily and the last time he had it was 12 hours ago.

He's sleeping right now but had complained of dizziness before he slept. should I wake him up every now and then to check on him?

Brief Answer:
Detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

4 years old human skull is not as hard as adult skull. So it does not protect the brain as in case of adult person.Swelling and nose bleeding indicates that the injury was quite strong. And as he has dizziness, I suggest you to do not just wait and see.
You never know what has happen inside the skull. Brain bleeding can give no symptoms at all or give symptoms at the late stage. So please do not risk and as a precaution visit a doctor. Neurologist should consult him and head CT should be considered.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
