Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

There is no known cause for Motor neuron disease.Genetic factors may play a role.

I am afraid to say that there is no cure of Motor neuron disease. In fact,if the diagnosis of Motor neuron disease is confirmed, prognosis is very poor and life is of short span(2-3)years duration.

Only medicine that has been known to be somewhat effective is 'Riluzole'.It is known to delay the progression of the disease, but does not totally stop the progression. It can't reverse what has already happened.
Overall,it can make a difference of few months to an year to the life.

If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to answer, else please close the thread, rate it and write a review as your rating will be of help to me.

Brief Answer:
It is not the classical MND.It is Hirayama disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

With the details, you have provided now,I can make it that it is not the classical Motor neuron disease you are talking about.Infact,it is a restricted variant of MND called as Hirayama disease. This one has a better prognosis.

The details I mentioned above are of classical MND.
Though, even for Hirayama, nothing specific to be given for treatment.Though, the disease is a usually benign one.It does not improve much and does not worsen much.It usually keeps static.

If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to answer, else please close the thread, rate it and write a review as your rating will be of help to me.
