Question: My husband has developed a lump about the size of half an orange on his torso right above his penis.

Hi.

It can be hernia. The location of the lump is classical for inguinal hernia. You may try feel the lump as you cough, hernia swelling seem to increase upon coughing.

It is not a serious concern, but at times can cause complication. Therefore I recommend you see a general surgeon who can confirm the diagnosis. If confirmed, it can be treated laproscopicaly.
