Question: Hi Doctor, Good Morning!! whenever I eat something spicy and then have a gap of around 2-3 hrs and go to the loo, after I pee, it burns a lot. I am not sure why this is and what to do. This has been for more than a year now and haven't seen any doctor so far. Please advise.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to prostatitis.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Burning after urination after defecating is mostly due to inflammation of rectum prostatitis. The burning after urination is due to referred pain from urethral sphincter having the same nerve innervation by a branch of the pudendal nerve.

Consult qualified Proctologist or General surgeon for a rectal examination.

Taking a soft diet and avoiding spicy food will help to resolve the issue.

You may apply local anesthetic jelly like Xylocaine. That will help to relieve pain.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards,
