What Causes A Swollen Bump On The Eyebrow With Black Eye After Injury?

Question: I got hit pretty hard with a slotted wooden spoon on the eyebrow above the eye. It immediately swelled to a big bump and the next day I woke up with a black eye. The person who hit me is trying to say that I did this to myself. They said because they did not hit me with their fist, there is no way they gave me a black eye by hitting me with the spoon. Can you clear this up for me?

I am sorry to see you are injured! It would be very difficult and unusual for a person to cause a self injury of this nature. As you said, and as is apparent from the picture, this took some force.

An injury with bruising and swelling does not require a fist to happen. Any object, used with force, can cause damage.

If you need to have this documented for legal purposes, I recommend you go in to the ER or urgent care clinic where they can document it in an official record.
