Question: I accidentally ate a small piece of meat that had been cooked with Saran wrap on it and melted. It was pulled off, but I still took a couple of bites before I thought better of it. Will I be ok?

Brief Answer:
Eating food cooked with saran wrap on one occasion is not risky

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
There is a possibility of chemicals in plastic saran which can penetrate certain foods during microwave cooking. In particular, fatty foods such as meats and cheeses cause a chemical called diethylhexyl adipate to leach out of the plastic and enter the foods. There are strict FDA warnings for manufacturers of such plastics to follow proper testing procedures and publish public notices regarding dangers of using them.

If you have eaten food which came in contact with saran on one occasion then there is not much associated risk. However it is urged not to repeat such possible contaminated foods.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
