Question: I'm taking iron because of iron deficiency, and while I'm going to the bathroom regularly, I'm finding that the hard stools are causing bleeding in the anus. What can I do to allow this wound to heal?

Hi,

The use of iron can cause this problem.
You may change your diet with more fibers and vegetables.
In addition to the dietary modifications, you can take a laxative such as Liquid paraffin (cremaffin) which will help by making the stools soft.
Also, you can use topical anal creams for pain relief.
I will suggest you to use ferrosanole duodenal iron for less side effects.
