Question: Hello - I am a 47 year old women - 170cm 72kg. I recently started taking Xenical and have had pale clay coloured stools. I have discontinued
The drug as this is one of the side affects listed as a serious adverse affect in the insert information. Could you tell me if this is a normal side affect that should disappear over time and advise if I should persist? I would love to be able to take the drug as it is so successful for others. I take Aropax 20mg daily (have done for 15 year without any problems). If you could give me an opinion on Xenical that would be great.

Xenical frequently causes greasy, offensive, oily stools that come with urgency.
However this side effects go with time.
Infact we always advise that it should be taken with oil/ fat free diet as far as possible to have minimum side effects.
Clay colored stools occur commonly with the drug and that too can be avoided if you take fat free diet.
Start again with fat free diet. See for a week. If this persists you might have to stop the drug.
