Question: I will take a long car trip soon. I want to know if I should be concerned about deep vein thrombosis?
1. I have decided to complete the journey in 2 days
2. I will drive for 4 hours then rest for the night then drive for 5 hours the next day.
3. I plan to stay at my destination for a few days.
3. Then I plan to return home similarly, I plan to drive for 5 hours. Then I plan to rest for the night then drive another 4 hours until I arrive home.
4. Are there any precautions I should take or steps I can take to prevent dvt
5. What symptoms should I be concerned about?
6. I have never had this problem before.

Driving for 4-5 hours should not cause any harm if you have no previous history of DVT. The program that you have planned should not cause any problem. You can take a short break after two hours of driving for tea or snacks and have a short walk to maintain adequate blood circulation in the legs.
The worrisome symptoms include pain and swelling in calves or pain that aggravates on walking and does not improve even after a rest.
