Question: What are alternatives to resolving post-surgical abdominal adhesions aside from laproscopic "wander around the abdominal cavity and look for them, then remove ones found" ... I'm concerned that procedure in itself would cause inflammation to make new ones? I'm specifically interested in opinions of bodywork massage, ESWT treatment, or whatever else you may have heard of. I know that because of your specialty, that you will recommend the surgical solution, but would like to know what you have heard or experienced less invasive alternatives. Or, is another type of specialist more appropriate to answer this?

Hello,
Thanks for the query.

Postoperative adhesions are a band of scar tissue connecting segments of bowel or between bowel and body wall.

It is quite common after major abdominal surgery, and the body’s nature plays an important role as some people are more prone. develop adhesions.

Treatment is required only if you are symptomatic, like in case of symptoms like chronic or recurrent pain, or features of intestinal obstruction.

You can go for a CECT abdomen to look for the presence and severity of adhesions.
Surgery is the only treatment of choice, and non-surgical treatment does not give any productive results.
ESWL is not effective for adhesions.
