Question: Two days ago My 59 year old boyfriend stood up and got a severe pain in his inner upper thigh - worse than any leg cramp ever. Now the area looks purplish. He is having trouble putting weight on it and is still having serious pain. Is this something that needs immediate medical attention?

Brief Answer:
I need some more information

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description,it looks like a Haematoma.
I would like to have some information
1.Whether he is on Anticoagulant therapy?
2.Any history of Trauma or Fall?
If there is no history of Injury and if he is not on Anti.coagulant therapy, then it could be due to muscle tear leading to collection of blood which changes the colour of that area.
Apart from Ibuprofen, place Ice pack over the affected area.
Please consult your doctor and get an Ultrasound of that area.If collection of blood is more,it should be drained.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further.
Wish him good health and speedy recovery.
Regards
