This Is Not A Problem, As Much As A Newly

default
Posted on Wed, 24 Mar 2021
Question: This is not a problem, as much as a newly occurring phenomenon. I'll notice a subtle change in my breath pattern, and a sense that I must stay very still. This is accompanied by thoughts that something unknown and overwhelming is about to happen, and that I must stay still in order to enable it. My back and arms start to feel cold or clammy. as the feeling 0f immanence intensifies. It always passes, and I am disappointed. (My mother, I believe, had similar experiences.)

Brief Answer:
Indicative of anxiety disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

First of all I like to inform you that the observed phenomenon is indicative of anxiety/anxiety disorder (if there is functional impairment at any domain of functioning).

My opinion is based on the fact that the changes are acute, bring discomfort, cause no permanent change and accompanied by negative thoughts of misfortune without any obvious reason with autonomic hyperactivity (cold and clammy extremities, change in temperature sense, ? increased perspiration, ? increased heart rate).

Presence of family history among female members also indicates more possibility of anxiety.

In my opinion there is definite need for stress management and need to manage it at this level itself so further progression can be avoided.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
