Question: Hi My foot started swelling 3 days ago, didn't hurt myself or anything. \It has gone red on the top part of my foot and up past my ankle. It is also swollen and warm to touch

Thanks for posting your query.

It is infection of the foot ( Cellulites). Probably you might have had an insect bite which has resulted in infection.

Sometimes this infection will subside on its own . So just wait for 2-3 days more observe . Keep your foot in elevated position while lying down.You can also apply ice packs over it.

But if it doesn't resolve in 3 days or if starts increasing or starts paining , in that case you need to consult your doctor as you shall require an antibiotic course . Once antibiotic course is started the infection will subside .
