Question: My 14 yr old son started doing porly at school about mid year last yr. now that he is a freshman he started the year vary badly. Already one F one D and two Cs. His friend pool has really shrunk and he thought he would be doing soccer but he got cut. All he wants to do is play his game even with strangers on line never wants to go out to play. When he does have a friend over he will not go outside to play, or to eat, or to a movie so I think it is boring for his friends. He use to shoot hoops now he finds that along with school boring. What can I do to help him?

Brief Answer:
Take him to a adolescent psychologist/psychiatrist

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for posting on HealthCareMagic. Adolescence is a time of confusion. The growth in bodily structure is not proportionate to that of the mind in social perspective and the energy cannot find proper direction. Your child has a strong ability which is assumably soccer. He simply does not know what to do with this ability, moreso when others lack respect in it. But at the same time he does not understand what is realistic while they crave for appreciation of their skillset which might be unique for each individual. You would have to take him to a adolescent psychologist or psychiatrist. They can carefully analyse your situation and bring about certain simple interventions like giving him ways to express himself. It would require sequential interventions and I am sure that your child would be back on track. Such problems are pretty common and you need not worry if proper interventions are taken.
