Suggest Treatment For Sinus Headaches And Irritation In Upper Stomach

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: Hello Doctor

I decided to get Acetaminophen to help with sinus headaches. I took the recommended dose of 1000milligrams this morning and it really helped with the headaches. But I also drank some alcohol last night, and now I seem to have stomach irritation (upper abdomen), and have thrown up once already. Is this just a normal side effect? Is there any need for worry? or should I just stop taking the medication?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Best to get examined to make sure all is well

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Mixing the usual dose of acetaminophen and alcohol is considered a risky combination.

From the information provided with the distribution of acetaminophen it has clearly been stated that this medication should not be mixed with alcohol, and if at all they have been mixed then the interaction can at times produce symptoms that need to be reported to a doctor or an ER at the earliest. They are:

+Nausea
+Vomiting
+Itching
+Skin rash
+Unusual bruising
+Bleeding
+Joint pain
+Fever
+Chills
+Lethargy
+Loss of appetite
and a few other symptoms.

I would urge you to contact medical personnel if you can do so, but for now most certainly avoid the medication any further. The only reason why a visit to a doctors office or an ER is required at this moment is to make sure all your parameters are within normal range.

I hope you understand sir, and you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, i would be more than happy to help you.

Best wishes.
