Suggest Treatment For Severe Wrist Pain

Posted on Mon, 19 Oct 2015
Question: When I put pressure on my hand, such as for support when getting up or bending over to pick something up, my wrist hurts. Looking at my left hand palm up, it's on the outside close to where the hand joins the arm. It aches and if I press down on the bone it hurts. Is it broken or do I have a sprain?

Brief Answer:
Its hard to tell without the x-ray.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Unfortunately without the x-ray it is hard to give precise diagnosis. If you have had an injury of the wrist, fracture is possible for sure. That is why the x-ray is the first thing to be done.
Until that time, you should have the wrist immobilized with splint. Or at least you should do not use it and do not overload it. Try to put lukewarm compresses on the painful area.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
