Brief Answer:
Exercises to strengthen the muscles would help!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this discomfort you have at the knees when moving up/down the stairs. This suggest that the muscles are not strong enough to support the joint. Also, knowing how to maintain balance on the knees requires some training. Unfortunately, you didn't declare your age or any other information that would have helped in providing a more personalized information.

In all, I recommend you do exercises that strengthen muscles which control the knees and how to maintain balance when walking on the stairs. I will suggest you work with a personal trainer at the gym for this.

I hope this would help. If you could provide more details about yourself like age, sex, weight and height, any disease condition, etc., I would be able to provide more insights and helpful recommendations.

I wish you well and hope to hear from you.
