Brief Answer:
seems to be anxiety induced.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that your wife is having recurrent breathing problem. I would like to ask you few more details.

Is there any cough or wheeze ?
Is there any sequence of sneezes followed by running nose or any anxiety.

Kindly get back to me with the details.

Based on your clinical details, it appears to be anxiety induced.

I suggest you to follow these measures to overcome her breathing issues.

1. Get evaluated with ent surgeon, by detailed history (allergic rhinitis or vasomotor rhinitis inducing the breathing difficulty), x-ray chest, blood tests (absolute eosinophilic count, serum IgE) to see any lung infection or allergy). Treatment can be started as per the findings.

2. Hyperventilation induced breathing difficulty secondary to stress or anxiety can be managed with counseling or medications after differentiating from organic cause or infection.

3. As such, Ear surgery will not cause any breathing difficulty.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
