Suggest Treatment For Raised Lump On Palatoglossal Arch

default
Posted on Sat, 27 Jun 2015
Question: I have a pale raised lump at the base of my palatoglossal arch, where it meets the tongue. I was wondering if that was lymphatic tissue, or something more serious.

Brief Answer:
This is the amygdale gland! it is normal!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this finding and all the inconvenience this has caused you. I have reviewed the attached image and this is typical of the normal location of the amygdale gland. It is normal and there is no reason to be worried about. It is a collection of lymphoid tissue that fights infections in the mouth area.

In all, it is lymphatic tissue. There is no reason to be worried about.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thank you! I was confused because I could see no analogue on the left side. I know there are tonsils between the two arches, but this one was on the front arch; so that's part of the tonsil as well?

Brief Answer:
Yes, it is part of the tonsils!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is part of the tonsils. They are not exactly of the same size on both sides but its location makes it typical. There is no reason to worry about this. Be calm and reassured you are not doing bad.

I wish you well.
