Brief Answer:
Meniere's disease

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contactin HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing severe dizziness and ringing ears. This is called Meniere's disease. This is a dysfunction of the middle ear and the balancing center of your ear. We do not know what causes Meniere's disease. We think it maybe due to a small disequilibrium in the fluid of the balance centers of the ear.

We do treat the symptoms with medication. For the dizziness we use meclizine which is used for sea sickness and sometimes steroids. We also use anti nausea medications because of the nausea accompanying the dizziness.

The overall condition can last a few days to several weeks. Only time will tell.

I recommend that you contact your medical provider and be seen. They may want you to see an ENT specialist because there can be other causes like a neuroma that will have the same symptoms.

I hope I answered your question. please contact us again if you have any additional questions
