Question: I am having pain and redness in my eyes, sometimes its right eye sometimes its in left eye.
I work on system for 7-8 hrs a day
I am using a desktop so I don't use my specs often. Also I have started fasting since yesterday so not sure if its due to that.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be due to dryness of eyes.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. It is a common misconception that glasses (possibly with antiglare coating) protect your eyes while you work on a computer. It so happens that when you work on a computer you keep focussing at the same distance for prolonged durations. This leads to ciliary muscle spasm and fatigue leading to eye fatigue. Taking the eyes off the computer and looking at various distances from time to time solves this problem. Another problem is dryness of eyes. While you work on the computer you tend to blink less frequently and thus the tear film tends to dry off. This is probably the cause of the redness. Washing the eyes with plain water from time to time should provide relief. You can use tear supplements but they are not mandatory.

Hope that helps.
