Question: I've had nausea and vomiting since last summer but not all the time. Sometimes 2 days, sometimes 4. I eat healthy and I've been tested for a UTI. What are the symptoms of Candida? Could this be it. What can I do for the nausea and vomiting. I'm a retired nurse but I don't want to diagnose myself. I have a doctor's appt. XXXXXXX 1st. I'm 84 years old and have been in excellent health. I worked until I was 68. XXXXXXX XXXX

Brief Answer:
Needs to be investigated.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

The nausea and vomiting could occur due to a number of reasons. The cause needs to be evaluated. A clinical examination backed up with proper investigations is essential for the same. The first step perhaps would be to get an abdominal ultrasonogram done. You can get that done before you go for the doctor's appointment.

I do not think that this is due to candidiasis. Candidiasis occurs due to immunosuppression, be it due to any cause. Depending on where it occurs, the presentation would vary. So, a coated tongue (candidiasis), oesophageal candidiasis, vaginal candidiasis etc. are each different from one another.

The reason I asked if it were Candida is I read that there is a simple test that I did and I was positive for it. This was on another site and they said to put a glass of water by the bed and first thing in the morning, spit into the water and check it every 10 minutes. It said that long strings would come down from the sputum and finally the sputum would sink to the bottom of the glass. It did all of these things. I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow AM and I'll have her test me for candida. One of the symptoms was nausea and vomiting if it were in the gut.

Brief Answer:
Try to obtain medical information from authentic sites or professionals.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the response.

The mentioned test is a miserable test for Candida. I am not sure if you have tested the sputum or simply the mucus/cough. Anyway, I am sure that the doctor's appointment will help in reassuring you. Let me know if I could help further.
