Question: Hi My father-in-law is on Dialysis. He suffers from LOW BLOOD PRESSURE. The dialysis treatment seems to make his blood pressure even lower after. He has become very weak. Is there any medication they could give him to raise his BP that will not interfere with his DIALYSIS?

I will be forever greatfull If you can answer this question

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

After going through the medical details provided by you I understand your concern for your father in las’s health and I would like to tell you that it’s normal for dialysis patients to have blood pressure on lower side and generally no medication is required for that.

The weakness which your Father is suffering from is most likely because of the advanced stage kidney disease.

If his systolic blood pressure stays around 90 mmHg and he doesn’t experience any symptoms like giddiness or syncope then there is no need to worry about the blood pressure.

Hopefully this information will answer your query.

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu Partap
