Suggest Treatment For Itching, Redness And Swelling Of Finger Joints

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Apr 2016
Question: Hi. My finger joints are red and swollen and sometimes itch during that state. The inflammation starts with a little tender, red bump. It sort of then spreads into the inflammation, swelling and soreness in the joint. No Dr has been able to give me answers. What sorts of things should I ask my Dr to test for?
I appreciate your time, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Raynaurd's phenomenon / vasculitis

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Swollen red fingers with pain are likely a vascular cause and likely a raynaurd's phenomenon. A common manifestation of overactve sympathetic response in winter and harsh weather.
Try putting your fingers of hands and feet in warm saline water daily for 10 minutes twice a day and apply some vaseline or petroleum jelly over it and if possible try some topical vasodilator over it. Keeping the hands warm all the time is the key. Wear warm leather gloves if you have to to keep them warm.
Talk to a doctor and let them run some labs and correlate the history clinically to rule out vasculitis etc.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont' forget to close the discussion please.
